The new Sonos Soundbar: Playbar is said to not only be an important upgrade to your TV’s built-in speakers, but also create a “three-dimensional soundfield that simulates a 5.1 system (Grant Clauser: Electronic House).” This enhances the already awesome Sonos System which allows you to stream music from a variety of sources like Pandora, Rhapsody and even your own music off of your iPad or computer.
Sonos Advertises the Playbar by touting its 9 speaker design which “floods any room with high fidelity audio for games and movies. Huge waves of live concert sound and wireless streams of all the music on earth” enter your home with this incredible system. One great feature of the Playbar is that if you are listening to the radio and decide to watch TV instead, the Playbar will automatically switch its audio to what is playing on the TV.
For those who want the “techy details”…
- Complements HD television screens with richly textured HiFi sound.
- Wirelessly streams music.
- Understands and speaks most IR remote’s language and can be controlled by free apps for your Android®, iPhone® or iPad®.
- Plays all sources plugged in to your HDTV: cable/SAT boxes, Blu-Ray players, and video game consoles. If it’s connected to your HD TV, PLAYBAR will play it.
- Built around 9 drivers (6 mid-range drivers and 3 tweeters)
- Drivers are mounted on a 45 degree angle so the directionality of the speaker is not effected whether you lay the speaker on a cabinet or hang it on the wall.
- Each Driver is powered by its own amplifier
Check out the rest of the system too!
